For this assignment, each student was provided with the same schematics of a ship’s cannon that might appear on a sailing ship from the 16th to 19th centuries and asked to model it as closely as possible. This project was probably the most complex model I had worked on at the time and helped me learn how to break a model down into parts and focus on one part at a time, as well as how to plan for reflecting objects. These techniques proved successful, as over a surprisingly short time the model became incrementally more detailed and representative of how a real cannon might look.
